The intent of the Basic Health and Safety support service is to ensure that individuals and families in New Mexico have access to medical care or a benefit plan and in some cases to provide temporary assistance and support to families affected by domestic violence during crisis or emergent situations when other resources are not available.

HELPNM provides individuals having trouble in these areas with the tools and resources to change their lives for the better. With support and in collaboration with local and community partners, we work with individuals to assess their current situation, their work experience, skills and interests, and together we develop a plan to establish self-sufficiency and economic empowerment and stability.
