Head Start is available in Luna, Dona Ana, Otero, Hidalgo and Sierra Counties.
The Help New Mexico Head Start and Pre-K program is an inclusive program that provides comprehensive services to children and families throughout New Mexico. The holistic approach not only provides quality early childhood education, it assists families with everything from speech and occupational therapy to housing assistance and mental health consultations.
When families thrive, communities thrive. That’s why Head Start takes an active role in family life in the communities that we serve. Twice-yearly home visits, monthly parent meetings, and dental and hearing screenings are available, as are referrals for free mental health consultations. Since we believe that parents are a child’s first teachers and number-one role models, we also encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom and take an active role in their child’s education.
Head Start is available in the following counties: Luna, Dona Ana, Otero, Hidalgo and Sierra.
In addition to free preschool, Head Start provides quality assistance and programming for infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Our staff is trained to work with children with disabilities and nontraditional families, and applications are accepted regardless of race, sex, age, creed, color, national origin, or disability.
